When your best friend is a lemur, it’s hard to live an uneventful life.
Especially if that lemur happens to be an alcoholic, a womanizer and a drug user.
But for Steve, the main character in senior Mike Cochnar’s newest film, hanging out with Lemur is part of his daily routine.
Cochnar and sophomore Joey Klinkacek are releasing their creation,
“Steve and Lemur,” this Saturday. The idea came from Klinkacek after he found a stuffed animal at a friend’s house.
"This summer I was at a buddy’s (house) in Crete and found this lemur Beanie Baby and I started doing voices with it," Klinkacek said. "I came up with a high pitched southern accent and decided it was a funny idea and started writing the next day."
Klinkacek said he then took the idea to Cochnar and they built Klinkacek's original idea into a dialogue.
"As he came up with the idea he brought it to me to write into a screenplay," Cochnar said.
The two then decided Interterm was the perfect time to start shooting their creation.
"It's a cross between South Park and Wayne's World," Cochnar exclaimed. "The show is far fetched but really funny because it's so unrealistic."
The show is about a small town all American bartender, Steve, and his best friend Lemur, who happens to love the excessess of life. Klinkacek and Cochnar are premiering the show, complete with behind-the-scene footage, at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Whitcomb Lee Conservatory.
