Walking into the cafeteria it is clear who belongs to what groups. At one table you have the Siggies, at another there are music people. Every evening I walk into the cafeteria after practice and I sit at a table with my high jumper companions. Why is it that we all segregate ourselves from each other? The only answer I, myself, could come up with is that we surround ourselves in our everyday activities with the people we are invovled with. We create our own cliques and separate ourselves from each other. It's something that has weighed on my mind since I got to college. What if we all just sat at one big table and had no choice of sitting with our groups? I wonder if our campus would become and feel more like a familly. We would surely learn a lot about people we never even thought...Feb. 10

Being in charge of the entertainment Beat has definitely been interesting. I have gone to events on campus that I would have never gone to otherwise. Because of this Beat I my mind has been running on what else college campus' could have for entertainment. One idea brought to me was a campus bar. Yes some colleges actually have bars on their campus'. It takes me back to the television show GREEK. Often times you see them at a bar scene. Whether it is on campus or not I myself have always percieved it as being on their campus. What if Doane had a bar on campus? Do you think it would change the atmosphere of the campus? Would more students stay around campus on the weekends? I personally think would not be a bad idea. If a bar was on campus you would not have to worry about students driving...
