Hey,

This Sunday is the Allocation Council for student
organizations. This is where groups are given money from the Student
Congress (StuCo) budget to support activities for their group in the
next school year.

Often times this ends up being quite a challenge since
StuCo wants to keep spending down as much as humanly possible.

Do you think the allocation rules are tedious for those who
have to deal with them? And do you know of any groups may be popping
through the woodworks to get money for the next year?

Do you also think that there should be a certain group that
doesn't exist currenty?

Several different organizations are starting to add a few more events
to the schedule line-up in the next few weeks.

This includes Doane Player's Short Night Of Theatre, which will be
this Saturday at 8:30 in the Common Grounds. Students will be
performing student-written scenes and monologues as well as doing
improv together.

WACO will be having activities for Earth Day next Thursday, which will
make it to the paper next week, as well as QSA doing a couple of
activites on the last week of April.

If you know any other groups that are planning on adding any
activities, feel free to let me know.

Most of the Doane students are involved in several activities and organizations and there about 75 on campus that people can join. As we came into April this year, I realized how many things are going on at once for organizations. For instance, Relay for Life is coming up, CCC is having their Day of Service and StuCo is having their elections on April 11 and 12.

On top of all of that people are getting ready for finals, projects
and graduation. It makes people wonder how we do it all without
wanting to pull our hair out.

That's the point, something always falls through the cracks. How
do you think students on campus should handle all of the scheduling stress or how do you handle it?

That's it for now-Kayla

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged, but the life of a beat
reporter is always hectic.

For instance, my beat got changed a few weeks ago and now I'm adjusting. I'm now on student government and student organizations. So if you are a student group who wants to be published, just contact me.

I'm planning on doing a review of the more obscure clubs and even some of the more popular ones over the
coming weeks. The campus has roughly 60 groups on campus, how many of them do you know?

Today Nurse Kelly sent out an email to all of the students about
excuses for absences since apparently the policy is being abused. If
you want the full requirements of what is and isn't a reasonable
excuse, just see the email. If you disagree with the policy for any
reason and need a place to vent where people will listen, just
comment. What exactly do you consider a reasonable excuse and does it
match up with the policy?
